Laube is a home and studio built from a former garden shed, now featuring a social work space, a bathroom, and space to unwind. The project is a personal answer to the lack of freedom in spatial expression in urban areas, demonstrating the potential for existing spaces to exceed their perceived utilitarian value.
Motivated to maintain a light, reduced aesthetic, the design prioritized resourceful material reuse. Plywoods from the site were repurposed to construct custom furniture, doors, and built-ins, whilst additional furniture was exclusively sourced second-hand.
The space had previously been used as a workshop and storage unit which had become cluttered and unusable over time.
Work included essential foundational trades such as insulation, electrical wiring, plumbing, and decorating as well as extensive wood and metal work.
